Daughter of Archibald and Margaret Jamieson Jamieson (no relation). Margaret (the mother) was daughter of Allan and a Miss Wallace Jamieson, born in 1746 at Thornhill Farm in Scotland. She died in 1790, aged 44 years. Mr. Jamieson died 19 Dec 1816, aged 70. Both are buried in the Neal Daugherty graveyard near the village of Armagh, Indiana County.

Archibald and Margaret set sail for America, along with 5 of their children (including Margaret J.) and her brother Rev. John Jamieson and his family, landing in Philadelphia in Nov. 1783.

Siblings include:
Archibald 1772-1854 married Jane Lowry (history says Miss McCall)
John 1775- (married Miss McCall)
Margaret 1777- died young (presumably before Jul 1781, when the second Margaret was born)
William 1779-1846 in Ohio married Mary Hutchinson
Allan 1784-1846 married Sarah Jane Johnston
James 1786-
Martha 1788-
Mary 1790-1864 married Moses Crawford

( Martha and James are both listed in their father's 1816 will, but they are listed in the history as "died young", nothing more is known about them at this time)

The book refers to her as Margaret J Jamieson Hopkins and also mentions that she and John Hopkins were married in 1809. The 1810 date is courtesy of Don Ludwig.
