Theodore was the son of Henry Pleasant Inman and Martha Elizabeth "Lizzy" Nicholson. He died of cardiac failure while living in rural Coldwater, Missouri, on the border of Southern Madison County and Wayne County. He was examined at the Osteopathic Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was buried in Ashlock Cemetery in Madison County.

His death certificate said he worked in agriculture, but that was just a general term for what he really did. According to his son, Dale, Theodore and his father and brothers made their living primarily in cutting timber for railroad ties. However, to feed the family, they raised a few cattle, hogs and chickens.
