Formerly of Des Moines Maxine Vaux, age 86, passed away September 14, 2009 in Ottumwa.

Born in Bentonsport she had been a resident of Des Moines for over 50 years. She was an over 50 year member of Bethany Reformed Church and had a Lifetime membership at Highland Park American Legion Post #374. Maxineserved in the US Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist's Mate 3rd Class.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son Ronald; son-in-law, Robert McCarl; grandaughter, Cathryn Vaux; great-grandson, Keith Vaux, two sisters, Betty Sudbrock and Violet Mitchell.

Surviving Maxine are her son, Donald (Chris) Vaux of Ottumwa; daughter, Donna Hesseltine of Des Moines; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and brother, Stanley Norman of Colorado Springs, CO; and Dixie Roll of Nashua, IA.

Visitation from 5 fo 7pm Friday at Bethany Reformed Church, 720 N. E. 52nd Ave. followed by funeral services at 10am Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Bethany Reformed Church.
