Relatives learned late Wednesday evening of the death of Roger Howitt, age 50, Waukesha, Wisc., who passed away Wednesday afternoon, at Waukesha after a long illness. He was born on Empire Prairie and when a young boy moved with his family, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Howitt to Wisconsin. A talented musician, he was a member of the U. S. Army band during World War II. He played various instruments in stage bands in the Milwaukee area. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral and burial services will be Saturday in Waukesha. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, three children, Linda, Bradley and Virginia of the home; his mother, Mrs. Susie Howitt; a brother, Harold Howitt; a sister, Mrs. Alvin Johnson, all of Waukesha and an uncle Glen Howitt of Empire Prairie and several cousins in the King City area. ~~~ TRI-COUNTY NEWS, King City, MO, Mar. 13, 1970, page 6
