Wade worked for the Nashville Bridge company and was in charge of the iron substructure of the Caney Fork Dam. His mothers family were French Huguenots who came over 1650 on the ship Mary Ann. Grandmother Roberts' family plantations were Brentwood of Col. Thomas McCrory and Belle Meade of John Hardin next door and hence the marriage between them. Her mother America Rives was born at Brentwood, Tennessee

Thursday August 22, 1935 Wade Hampton McWhirter and family of Nashville, spent Sunday here with relatives.While here they got word of the drowning of their youngest son Lew at 11:00 AM . Sunday. He is survived by his father and mother and two brothers, Thomas Gafford and Ernest Powell and one sister Mrs. Wade Louise McCann. He is the nephew of Sallie Dunlap, G. Rogers and Newton Powell McWhirter, of this place. He has visited here and made a host of friends. He was 21 years of age.

First Tract; Begins on a Blackjack standing on a rise near a old Mill, it being a corner of the McWhirter old Tract and running west 11 poles to Jerrimah Jaco's line; thence South on his line 135 poles to a hickory, his corner; thence east on Uriahs Jaco's line 100 poles to a hickory and two Blackjacks, his corner; thence north on Uriah Jaco's line 31 poles to a hickory; thence west on the said McWhirter's old line 89 poles to a Hickory, his corner; thence north oh his old line 104 poles to the beginning, containing 26- acres more or less.
Second Tract, Begins at a double Ironwood, standing on the bank of Collins River and running thence North mounting the bluff to a Pine and Hickory at 10 poles, a corner of 150- acre tract or survey of the heirs of James Roberts , Deceased, and passing said corner with their line 40 poles in all about 50 poles to a stake and large White oak, J.M. Roberts Southeast corner of a one hundred acre tract or survey marked with letters D.C. thence west J.M. Roberts line about 74 poles to a Black oak on the bank of the said river; thence South 69 poles up Collins river, running upon the bank of same, 81 poles to the beginning, containing ten and three fourths acres, more or less.
These two tracts or parcels of land being described by meters and bounds in the deed of William W. Dunlap and wife to Newton P. McWhirter, dated the 4th day of January, 1899 Which deed is recorded in deed book No, 25 23 pages 141-142 of the registers office for Warren County, Tennessee, to which reference is here made for better description.
To have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of lands with the appurtenances, estate title and interest thereunto belonging onto the said Newton P. McWhirter, his heirs and assigns, in fee simple absolute I, the said Wade H. McWhirter, do hereby covenant that can lawfully seized and possessed with the said lands, that is, with an undivided one third interested thereto, and with every part thereof, have a good and lawful right to convey same and my such undivided interest is not encumbered further covenant and bind myself heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the said lands against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.
