Alexander Harvey Abbott, the sixth of nine children of John & Anna (Brock) Abbot, is not a grandchild of a Harvey. Most likely he is named to honor Col. Alexander Harvey, who had died about five years prior. Anna and John had already given sons the first names of both grandfathers, and John. Alexander married Lucinda West. Their first child was born in Massachutsetts in 1838 but they are back in Barnet for the 1840 Federal Census as a family of three.
