Mrs. Horace Allen Passes Away. Early Friday morning of last week our community was cast into the sentiment of sorrow by the untimely passing of Mrs. Horace E. Allen. She had been ill but a few days and despite the great seriousness of her sickness, those dear to her, and her countless friends, held hope of her recovery while the flame of life still flickered.
Born at Santa Ana, California, April 22nd, 1902, of sturdy pioneer stock of western environments, and fortified too, with the stout heart of a devoted motherhood, "Fay Allen" as she was affectionately loved and known, made a stalwart and courageous combat, and several times rallied against the ravages of the painful malady she suffered. Louella Fay came to Willcox with her parents in September 1910, living on the family farm near Sunset. She was married to Horace E. Allen, December 10th, 1918, to which union five children were born, namely: Wayne, Elvie, Mildred, Marjory, and Dotty Jo, two of whom preceded her death.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, and three children, Elvie, Marjory and Dotty Jo; four sisters, Mrs. Grace Evans, and Mrs. Hope Carlisle of Los Angeles, Mrs. Ruth Gardener of Bonita, and Mrs. Violet Whelan of Tucson; also her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Clark of Willcox. Mrs. Allen was best known here for her cheerful devotion ot her family, particularly her children. Linked with her sterling character those admirable qualities earned her many devoted friends, who join the bereaved family in mourning her death.
She was laid to rest in the Sunset Cemetery at Willcox on Saturday evening. Mute evidence of the love and esteem with which Fay Allen was regarded in Willcox and vicinity was the wreath and floral offerings which banked her grave, also the great multitude of friends who gathered there to bid her farewell and final blessing. The pall-bearers were Messers R.E. Briscoe, Jr, Ray Shrode, Euell Collins, Leo Black, Joe Whelan and Hi Hancock. The sympathy of the community goes out to the grief-stricken husband, parents, sisters and brother [Joseph Howard Clark 1899-1988] as well as many relatives in their sorrow."
