John Andrew Leskanic (Johnny) passed away April 16, 2009, at his residence in Tallahassee, Florida, at the age of 62. He was born on May 1, 1946, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He graduated from Jefferson County High School, Monticello, Florida, in 1964, and North Florida Community College, Madison, Florida. He attended Florida State University, where he was a member of the Marching Chiefs. He was of the Catholic faith and was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed music and playing his trumpet. John was an expert computer programmer system analyst and spent many years sharing his knowledge with others.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Hooks, (Greg), son Christopher, grandsons Preston, Zachary and granddaughter Kierstyn, all of Tallahassee; his mother, Olga C. (Shug) Leskanic of Monticello; sisters Dotsy Hancock (Don) of Thomasville, Georgia, Helen Nichol (Robert), Palm Harbor, Florida, and William Leskanic (Lori) Monticello; and one niece, Alyssa Nichol, and four nephews, Jonathan Hancock, Edward and James Leskanic and Robert A. Nichol. He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Leskanic. He will be missed by his many friends and neighbors.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 24, at Allen and Allen Funeral Chapel (229-226-6331) in Thomasville, Ga.
