Funeral services for B.J. 'Bill' Sanders, age 68, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 21, 2002, at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Ray Sims, pastor, will officiate. Rev. James Murray of Oklahoma City will assist. Interment will be in the Blanchard Cemetery under direction of the Binyon Funeral Home. B.J. was born the son of Mayme Elizabeth Ross Sanders and Oran Odell Sanders on November 2, 1933, at Dustin, Oklahoma. He died Friday, January 18, 2002, at Norman, Oklahoma. He married Goldie Marie Durbin on July 2, 1956, at Weleetka, Oklahoma. B.J. graduated from Dustin High School in 1952. He then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until 1957. Following the war he returned to Oklahoma and attended the Spartans School of Aeronautics in Tulsa. B.J. later attended Oklahoma City University. B.J. began a career as a civil servant for the United States government at the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City. At his retirement in January of 1992, he was an Aviation Safety Inspector for Airworthiness. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church. He served as a church greeter and was the chair of the Maintenance Committee. Survivors include his wife Goldie of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Flint Walkup and Renee' and Jim Reeves all of Blanchard; grandchildren, Chad Sluder, Byron Reeves, and Jessica Reeves all of Blanchard; brothers, Ronnie and Boyd Sanders of Dustin, Oklahoma; sisters, Bobbye Garrison and Virginia Watson both of Dustin, Margie Cluck of Shawnee, and Thelma Sanders of Idaho. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at the First Baptist Church of Blanchard.
