(from an article in The Hartford Weekly Times, Hartford, Connecticut, October 3, 1878, which lists the victims of the explosion)
THE KILLED
ALLEN, HARVEY, of Norwalk, a carpenter and builder, was dead when taken from the wreck. His body was bruised, torn and badly scalded, and his death was probably instantaneous. He was in poor health, and with his son was making a trip to this city. The son had left his father to get a chair, and was in the after part of the boat when the explosion took place.
