Robert Ogren Barry II (Bob), 51, a resident of Highland Village, TX. Born on February 10, 1958 in Ardmore, OK to Robert and Joanna Barry; passed away on September 8, 2009 in his home.


Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, entering service on September 18, 1975 and retiring honorably on April 30, 1999. During his time in the Air Force he served in many areas, including 11 years in the Security Forces at the 91st Security Police Group, Minot AFB, ND; Detachment 193-1, US Logistics Group, Incirlik AFB, Turkey; and the 91st Strategic Missile Wing, again at Minot AFB, ND.

His military career also included 13 years as a paralegal at Beale AFB, CA; law office manager at both the 8th Air Force at Carswell AFB, TX and the 81st Tactical Fighter Wing/Judge Advocate in the Royal Air Force, Bentwaters, England, UK; district manager, UK/Norway Bases at Headquarters 3AF/JA-A in RAF, Mildenhall, England, UK; and regional superintendent, Western Circuit, US, (19 Bases) Air Force Legal Services/Judiciary, Travis AFB, CA before retiring.

Upon retirement from the Air Force he became employed with American Airlines Federal Credit Union in Fort Worth, TX. During his military career, Bob was also a college instructor for paralegal and law enforcement curricula in the UK, Central Texas College and various other schools/locations. Also during his military career, he received many decorations and medals including the Air Force Commendation Medal with two devices, Meritorious Service Medal with one device, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with one device, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four devices, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with two devices, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two devices and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with six devices.

He received associate's degrees in paralegal studies and criminal justice from the Community College of the Air Force, and went on to receive an associate's and a bachelor's degree in management from the University of Maryland/College Park.

Bob was a member of the USAF Paralegal Association and the Air Force Sergeants Association. He was also a member of St. Phillip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Lewisville.

He is survived by his wife, Caren Barry; one daughter, Amanda Rayome and her husband, Jeffery; and one son, Robert O. Barry III. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Barry; two sisters, Kathleen Gray and Seana Luedke; one granddaughter, Riley Rayome; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow with full military honors at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
