Major League Baseball Player. He was a second baseman and utility player for seven teams in nine years in the major leagues. He broke in with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1906. He bounced around between the minor and major leagues for fourteen years. He enjoyed stints with the Philadelphia Phillies (1908-9), Boston Doves (1909-10), Chicago Cubs (1911), Boston Braves (1912), Cincinnati Reds (1917), and Boston Red Sox (1918-19). In 2,167 plate appearances, he batted .228 with 166 runs batted in. In 1918 he led American League hitters with 36 sacrifice hits.
