MRS. D. ALEXANDER DIES AT HOME IN PHELPS COMMUNITY
Mrs. Dee Alexander, lifelong resident of the county, died suddenly of a heart attack early Monday afternoon at her home in the Phelps Chapel neighborhood while sitting in a chair and talking to her husband. She was quite ill for several weeks last spring and never recovered entirely from the long sick spell.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Randolph County, Feb. 9, 1875. Three children were born to her and Mr. Alexander of whom Irvin, who lives in the Phelps neighborhood, survives. Besides her husband, the son mentioned, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Alexander leaves her aged father, H. T. Newton, Cairo; two brothers, Luther C. Newton, Jacksonville, and W. M. Newton, Cairo; two sisters, Mrs. Osa Burton of near Moberly; and Mrs. W. B. Scott, Vandalia.
Funeral servicces will be conducted at Phelps Chapel at 2 o'clock Wednesday by the Rev. Roy Heifner and the Rev. F. E. Haynes of Cairo.
