Mr. Ashley, 69 years old, died early Thursday morning in the Simpson General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Simpson County and was a prominent farmer in the Oak Grove community. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Robbie Bell Ashley of Mendenhall, Route 3; one daughter, Mrs. Jonell Harris of Mendenhall, Route 3; two sons, Jimmy Ashley of Wheeling, Ill. and Billy Ashley of South River, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Dewitt Walker of Mendenhall, Route 3, Mrs. Ovah Brown of Tylertown and Mrs. Edgar Roberts of Kingston, Tenn.; a brother, E.A. Ashley, Jr., of Mendenhall, Route 3; and eight grandchildren.
