Wife of Mason J. Morriston Jr.

Fonda M. (Hardman) Morriston, 85, of Leachtown, W.Va., died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at her home.

She was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Harrisville, W.Va., to the late French and Minerva (Wolfe) Hardman. Fonda was a lifetime member of Vaught Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, cheering for WVU football and basketball and the Oakland Raiders, and working on word/number puzzles. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend and mentor to many.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Shea (Pat); seven grandchildren, Patrick Shea Jr., Eric Waisner, Sean Shea (Vicki), Douglas Morriston (Susan), Marshal Waisner (Brenda), Scott Morriston (Kristy) and Melissa Young (William); 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her furry friend, Millie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mason J. Morriston Jr.; one son, Donald Mason Morriston; and 9 brothers and sisters.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Vaught Chapel United Methodist Church in Leachtown, W.Va. Burial will follow the service at Vaught Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to her favorite charity, The American Cancer Society.
