HAGERSTOWN,MARYLAND -- Deborah Ann Button, 44, of Hagerstown, formerly of Cumberland, died Monday, June 21, 2004, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born April 6, 1960, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Jack A. Pifer, Hagerstown, and Hazel (VanMeter) Ryan, Flintstone.

Mrs. Button was formerly employed with WHAG TV as a sales consultant, then as a paralegal for the Law Offices of Edward N. Button, and later she became a mother and homemaker.

Surviving are one daughter, Amanda L. Helmick, Charleston, W.Va.; one son, Preston E. Button, Hagerstown; five sisters, Tina Chaney, and Kathy Pifer, both of Flintstone; Barbara Valentine, Short Gap, Stacey Rhodes and Billie Jo Valentine, both of Cumberland; and three brothers, Roddy Pifer, Hagerstown, Hetzel Pifer and Jack A. Pifer Jr., both of Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday, June 25, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Ketterman officiating.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.
