Dolores Adele Miskimen

Dolores Miskimen, 85, of Dallas died Sept. 15 in Dallas. She had been struggling with declining health for two years.
She was born in Cairo, a small river town at the foot of Illinois. She was the youngest of a Midwestern German family of five children, all of whom have preceded her in death.
Her passion in life was ballroom dancing, dancing to the big bands in the 1930s, at the Hollywood Palladium in the late 1940s, as well as ballroom dancing in the 1980s. The TV show "Dancing with the Stars" was her all-time favorite. Her other love in life was caring for her dogs, including Xena. Her warm, generous devotion to her children along with her zesty sense of humor will be missed.
Dolores married Pete Miskimen in 1973. Twenty years later she and Pete moved to West Salem to be closer to his brother, who lived in Woodburn, and her daughter, Mary Hughes of Dallas. Several years later they moved to Dallas.
Dolores was a parishioner of St. Philip Catholic Church in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, in 2003.
Survivors include her children, Bill Rice, Judy Morris, Bob Rice and Mary Hughes; stepchild, Ken Miskimen; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial celebration was Sept. 19 in Dallas and private interment was at Dallas Cemetery.
Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center handled arrangements.
