Sarah Loretta Cavanaugh was born at Hawley, Pa., May 17, 1875, the daughter of Michael and Mary Cavanaugh. She had two half-sisters and three half-brothers who preceded her in death.

She came to Kansas when a small girl and had lived near Esbon, Kans., all her life.

On Sept. 18, 1900, she was united in marriage to James A. Conrad. To this union 7 children were born, five daughters and two sons. One daughter preceded her in death.

She passed away at her home in the southeast part of Esbon on Saturday evening, Jan. 17, about 10:20 P. M., at the age of 83 years and 8 months.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Francis of Boise, Idaho, and Edward of Atchison, Kans.; four daughters, Mrs. Guy McCarty (Mary) of Red Cloud, Nebr., Mrs. Charles McGinnis (Teresa) of Esbon, Kans., Mrs. Joseph Di Pietro (Agnes) of Santa Clara, Calif., and Cecelia Conrad of San Diego, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Church, Esbon, Kans. on Tuesday morning, Jan. 20, at. 10:00 A. M, with Rev. James Grennan officiating. Burial was in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
