From the 1913 Beardstown Illinois City Directory: Alford Oscar (wf Ellen), fisherman r 1201 E 4th.

According to the 1915 Beardstown Illinois City Directory, Oscar Alford was married to a woman named Ella, worked as a fisherman, and lived at 1201 E. 4th Street in Beardstown, Illinois.

Oscar F. Alford was one of several Illinois River decoy carvers who produced a limited number of duck calls. Oscar created Glodo-style calls that have large-diameter, heavy barrels that exhibit other characteristics typical of call makers from the Beardstown area. His walnut calls, much like his decoys, were made for family or close friends and were not sold on the general market. As a result there are very few of his calls in collections today.
