James Marion Rominger was the ninth of twelve known children of the Rev. Wesley Smith Rominger (1855-1937) and Mary Ellen (went by Ellen) Mast Rominger (1856-1928), who married 21 Sep 1873 in presumably North Carolina.

James married Florence Lula Harmon (1896-1987) on 10 May 1914 at Watauga County, North Carolina. James and Florence were the parents of six known children, namely:

1. Roy Baxter Rominger (1915-2001)
2. Arnold Grady Rominger (1916-1997)
3. Minnie Viola Rominger James (1918-2012)
4. daughter Rominger Matheson (1921-living)
5. son Rominger (1924-living)
6. Jimmie Ruth Rominger Mize Gilliam (1926-2005)
