INMAN - Ross Reese Blew, 73, died Sept. 23, 2009, at his home, Blue Top Hereford Ranch.

He was born Jan. 4, 1936, in Castleton, the son of Frank R. and Alpha G. Reese Blew.

Ross' family moved to Blue Top in 1951, where he graduated from Inman High School in 1953. He was a member of the American Hereford Association and Kansas Hereford Association. A devoted son, Ross was raised with cattle ranching in his blood, a love he passed onto his son, Curt. Walleye fishing was his second love; he was eager and always prepared to take on a tournament with his son, Ken. His sense of humor never failed him.

In 1955, he married Kathleen Peterson in Inman. She is now Kathleen Zimmerman and lives in Hutchinson.

Survivors include: sons, Curt and fiancée Anita Stuckey, Inman, and Ken and wife Cindy, Wamego; daughters, Pamela Scholze and husband Alfred, Los Angeles; and his dearly cherished sister, Maxine Hutton, Overland Park. He was loved by his six surviving grandchildren, Cami Gamble, Atlanta; Ryan Blew, Manhattan; Tyra and Taren Blew, Wamego; and Christina and Caroline Scholze, Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carole Reschke; brothers, Frankie "Bud" and Robert Blew; and a grandson, Christopher Blew.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Jim Nelson presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Bean Cemetery, Little River.

Memorials may be sent to the Stanley E. Stout Memorial Scholarship in care of Kansas State University Foundation, in care of the mortuary.
