Eldon Floyd Emerson, 90, a longtime resident of The Dalles, died at the local
hospital on Wednesday, April 20, 2005.
He was born Oct. 6, 1914 in The Dalles to Chester "Frank" and Fannie Dale (Moe)
Emerson. He grew up in The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles High School in
1933. After high school, he attended business school in Portland for two
winters.
He married Myrtle Naomi Davies on Jan. 7, 1936. They lived on and farmed the
family ranch in the Fifteen Mile area of The Dalles.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Kiwanis
International in The Dalles, past member of the Elk's Lodge, Oregon Wheat
Growers League, National Farmer's Union and the Air Stream Travel Trailer Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling in their Air Stream trailer. Eldon
and Myrtle spent many winters in Yuma, AZ after his retirement.
Eldon is survived by three daughters, Joanne and her husband, Bob Brewer, The
Dalles; Helen and her husband, Don Brewer, Lacey, WA and Jean Emerson of
Portland; five grandchildren, Denise and her husband, Ken Bollman, Lakewood, WA;
Brent Brewer, Cody, WY; Lynne and her husband, Brian MacMillan, Tualatin; David
and his wife, Margaret Brewer, The Dalles and Dean Brewer, Portland; five
great-grandchildren, Laura and Andrew MacMillan; Garrett Bollman and Liam
and Riley Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Emerson in August of 1995.
Entombment will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Memorial Mausoleum.
