Peter Mayfield's Civil War Medical Records says his birth was April 22, 1836. The 1850, 1860, 1900, and 1910 Census also say 1836. His stone says his birth was April 1, 1835, but was not bought for his grave until some time after his death.
Peter's 1st wife was Mahala Witt (married Aug 4, 1860) she died Feb 27, 1874. They had 5 sons, Isaac, Samuel Franklin, William Wood, Green Berry, and Jack Jacob "JJ".
