to William Gowen and Judey, his wife.

at Kittery, York, Maine.
They were the parents of;
William, Aaron, Ezekiel, Daniel, Samuel, Abigail.
The family is recorded on the
1790 census at Sanford, York, Maine.

HISTORY OF SANFORD, MAINE:

On January 7, 1772 Ezekiel came to Sanford with his father.
He lived on the homestead farm on Lebanon Street where his parents had lived and died.
He was a large landowner and early owner
of a mill at Sanford Corner.
In December of 1776, the Governor of Rhode Island solicited the aid of Massachusetts in defense of that state. Ezekiel Gowen [Private] served between May 19 to July 18, 1777 in Captain Abel Moulton's company of Colonel Jonathan Titcomb's regiment.

At the start of the 18th century, Ezekiel Gowen's house was the first painted house
in Sanford. It was yellow and the roof was
of Spanish brown color.
