"MRS. SHELTON DEAD"

"In no community has the untimely death of any of its members been felt so keenly as the sudden departure from this life of Mrs. Elvina Shelton, daughter of Mrs. William Anglado of Caillavet street near Chartres, who died in New Orleans, of acute indigestion, on June 10th. She had been spending a few days there with friends and had written home that she was enjoying herself so thorougly that she would remain a few days longer. Then, of a sudden, came the illness which cost her, her life. Her mother had been summoned to her bedside, but only reached her after she had passed away. Elvina, who was the baby girl and the pet of the family, was only 17 years old, and only ten months ago, date for date, was married to Floyd Shelton of Pearlington, Indiana, who was then stationed at Camp Shelby, Miss., but now serving his country with the American Expeditionary forces in France. Whilst her sweet disposition and kind open-heartedness will cause her to be mourned deeply, not only by her parent, but her loss will be felt most acutely by her young soldier husband, from whom on the very day of her death, she had received a letter announcing his return next month to the United States and planning a belated honeymoon trip to his home town where they had intended to reside after he had secured his discharge and returned to his duties in civilian life. The heartfelt sympathy of all must go out to this bereaved husband, as well as to the parents of this young woman. The funeral took place from her home on Caillavet street Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. A profusion of most beautiful flowers covered the casket, which was borne to its last resting place by six young men, all playmates of her childhood".
