WE LOST OUR DEAR FRIEND BRENDA,SHE WAS A DEAR FRIEND AND GRAVER!
Maude R. Bass 72 wife of Johnnie H. Bass of Greer died
in a nursing home in Inman S.C.Maude and Johnnie had one
daughter.Mary Alice Bass Tucker.Maude was a native of
Abbeville S.C.She was the daughter of the late
Thomas and Rachel Casey Robinson.Maude lived in Greer 40yrs.
She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church.Surviving
siblings are Kathryn Picklesimer of Greenville and two
brothers Harold Robinson of Greenville and Walter Robinson
of Ft.Lauderdale Fla. and seven Grandchildren.I am the
youngest granddaughter of Maude's.Now I will refer to
Maude as Grandma Bass. Grandma Bass was my refuge she was
there for my brother and sisters too.My brother John and
my sister Becki were adopted by my grandparents.They stayed
with Grandma most of the time.My sister Karen stayed a good bit too.I am 7 years younger so I stayed at home the most.We had a hard childhood to say the least,but Grandma
was there.I can remember so many times with her.She was so
gentle and calm.She sang or hummed all the time old gospel
songs.We lived just down the road from Grandma's we would
walk together and if I got ahead of her I would turn and
go back.Grandpa was in the service so he was not around as
much.I loved my grandma so much she made everything seem
okay.I remember sleeping with her in a featherbed,but we
must not forget to say our prayers.She taught me the
Lords prayer and many other things.She had beautiful flowers that smelled like the sweetest smell you could
imagine.We moved when I was 6 and my precious Grandmother
died a few days after I turned 7.She was everything to me.
I can only imagine how our lives could have been with my
Grandma still with us.I love her so.
