Josephine S. Leas, 62, of Crookston, died Saturday at a Crookston hospital. She had been ill for the past two weeks.

The former Josephine Johnson was born March 12, 1912 in Howard County, Iowa. She came to Mentor with her family in 1914. She married Arden Leas on June 8, 1933 at McIntosh and they lived in Gentilly for 27 years. He died in 1969. Also preceding her in death was one daughter, Judith in 1974, and three brothers.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Hilaire (Jean) Prudhomme of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. John (Audrey) Brandt of St. Paul, Miss Sylvia Leas of Fergus fall, Mrs. Richard (Bonnie) Hanson of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Richard (Andrea) Axelson of Warren; two sons, Glenn or Thief River Falls and Mylen of Gentilly; one brother, Nels Johnson of Mentor; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Myrtle) Bedard of Long Beach, California and Mrs. Ace (Caroline) Abbott of Fremont, California; and a niece, Miss Eileen Johnson of Crookston.

Mrs. Leas was a member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Crookston where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday with the Rev. Davis Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
