Police officer killed in line of duty, survived by spouse Rhea and two children.Officer Marshall was shot and killed while questioning a man at a disturbance call at a local hotel. Officer Marshall and another officer were attempting to talk to the suspect in an alley and the man refused to remove his hands from his pockets despite several warnings. He suddenly pulled out a handgun from one of his pockets and shot Officer Marshall in the head. Both officers returned fire and struck the suspect several times in the torso. The second officer began handcuffing the suspect when he pulled another gun out of his other pocket and shot him in the thigh. He was able to take control of the suspect and arrest him before beginning CPR on Officer Marshall. Officer Marshall was taken to a local hospital and then flown to a hospital in Seattle where he died at 0318 hours the next day. The suspect was admitted to the same hospital in critical condition.
Officer Marshall is survived by his wife and two children.
