Paul Daniel Gardea, 49, Eagar, died Nov. 29, 2003 in Eagar.

He was born March 9, 1954 in Safford. Paul was a secondary educator. He loved working with and teaching students of all ages. He was one of the founders of the Renaissance Charter Schools, a probation officer, served his country for 9-1/2 years in the United States Army and was currently teaching in Zuni, New Mexico.

He loved his family. He spent time with his children, coaching in their sports, teaching them how to shoot and gun safety and how to work. This was expressed in the many ways he and his children served and loved their Grama Tuck.

He served a mission in Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He shared many stories of sights and experiences he had during his service in the military, which included stints in Turkey and Germany.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Hall Gardea; a daughter, Ashley Danielle; and three sons, Paul Douglas, Stephen Wallace and Richard Troy, of Eagar; two daughters, Effney Christina and Hilary Rae, Orem, Utah; his parents, Richard and Margarita; and a brother Ben, of Safford; four brothers; and a sister Rich, Mike, Jason, Dennis and Stephanie of the Metro-Phoenix area.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Eagar Stake Center. Interment will follow at the Eagar Cemetery.
