A native of Laurel County ,he was born December 17, 1911, the son of the late H.S. and Drucilla Gross Hale.
He was a former resident of the Blackwater Community and was a member of the Mt. Zion Church of Christ.
Survivors are his wife, the former Lennie Hughes; a daughter, Sheila Hale, London; a sister, Ida Pennington, Tuttle;
and one brother, Tilford Hale, Marydell.
