GOSHEN. A sad and fatal accident occurred in this village Saturday afternoon. A man named Andrew Phelps was engaged in grinding bark about 5 o'clock at the tannery of Mr. Leonard Kelley. The horse that was working the mill became frightened and Mr. Phelps undertook to hold him. Mr. Kelley, hearing the noise, came down to the mill and took the horse by the head. Mr. Phelps stepped away, and while standing behind the horse and in front of a pile of bark, received a severe kick in the lower part of the chest. He lived only about twenty minutes after the blow. He was a man about sixty years of age, a native of Litchfield, and had been at work for Mr. Kelley about a year.
