Jennifer was born prematurely at about 7 1/2 months. She stayed at Children's Hospital at UCLA Medical Center for about 4 weeks. She had multiple birth defects. She had hip dysplasia and had to have surgery to correct it at 6 months old. She had to wear a cast from then until she was 9 months old. She died at 11 months old from pnemonia.

Jennifer had the following symptoms: Strabismus (crossed eyes), turning head to get a better view, thumbs set inward, club feet, dislocated hipbone, and seizures.

Some of the above symptoms like the turning of the head and crossed eyes are most commonly associated with Cerebral Palsy. She appeared to have an interruption of depth perception. That would be the reason she constantly turned her head slightly when she was trying to see. Treatment for this is glasses, eye patches, eye drops, and surgery. Treatment has to be done before the age of two. Jennifer had symptoms of Rhett Syndrome. Back in the 1970's they wouldn't have known about the disorder. This is probably why they could not give me any answers.

She also constantly laughed and sucked her hands and her head was growing slowly.
