Laurie Jene Butler, age 53, of Round Rock, Texas passed away on September 23, 2009. She was born in Austin, TX to Gene Butler and Jeanne Cain Butler on July 27, 1956 and spent many summers in the Texas Hill Country at her grandmother's ranch in Bee Cave. She was a graduate of Sulphur High School, Northwestern Louisiana State University, and University of Southwest Louisiana. Laurie taught school in Iberia and Caddo Parishes before moving back to her beloved Texas where she taught school at Voight Elementary in Round Rock.
Laurie loved to sing and play guitar, performing in small clubs throughout her life. She never met someone who didn't instantly become her friend, and there was nothing she wouldn't do for those she cared about. She had a quick wit and tremendous sense of humor.
She is survived by her three sisters, Shannon Allen LeDoux of Moss Bluff, Danielle Allen and Melissa Allen Jeffers of Sulphur, as well as her brother, Barry Butler of Midlothian, TX.; stepfather, Walter Allen; nieces and nephews, Joshua LeDoux, Kelsea Allen, Caleb Langley, Kyle Langley, and Amber and Alex Butler; Aunt Ozell Phillips and cousin, Loretta Rawley of Austin, Texas; and her best friend, Rebecca S. Young.
