Emigrated 4/5/1893 to United States joining his brother, Frans Robert Isberg in Tustin. Worked in lumber industry. Was a prize fighter in lumber camps known as "Hjlamar The Champion". Used the name Hjalmar or E. H. Farmed in Burdell Township until 1948. Served as Burdell Township Supervisor in 1920's.

Married Effie Pitts, a widow, on 10/11/1911 in Grand Haven, Michigan. Marriage performed by Rev. Olof Hogfelt, brother-in-law of Hjalmar.

Known as Dad to his three step children.

Effie and he had one child, Paul Walter Isberg who was born in Tustin July 21,1912.
