Arnold was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division.

He was Killed in Action while leading his squad against the Chinese near Hwachon, North Korea on June 9, 1951. For his leadership and valor, Sergeant Graham was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
