Jonas Jonsson was the first born son of Jonas Olofsson and Anna Brita Jacobsdotter. By 1850 Jonas and his brother Carl Jacob adopted the surname Isberg.

Jonas married Margaret Karolina Carlsson, daughter of Karl Petter Olofsson and Anna Katarina Olofsdotter, on 10/18/1861 in Savar, Vasterbotten, Sweden.

Jonas, his wife Margaret Karolina Carlson, and their nine children emigrated to the United States on 6/2/1882. They settled on the farm in Burdell Township clearing the land. Margaret Karolina wrote that the land was 'heavily forested'.
