"Augustus Ahrens, of Co. G, drafted man enrolled Sep. 26, 1864 in Evansville by Corp. Blyth Hynes as a Private; mustered in Oct. 24, 1864 in Evansville by Corp. Blyth Hynes at age 42. He was 5' 8.50" tall, dark complexion, blue eyes, and light hair. Born Apr. 9, 1824 in Germany, employed as a farmer, married to Caroline, resident of Campbell, in Warrick Co., IN. Mustered out with other drafted men Jul. 25, 1865 in Chattanooga, TN with rank of Private. Notes: Was 35 on 1860 Warrick Co., IN census. Residence also listed as Evansville, IN. On duty in ship yard Oct. 1864, and Jun.-Jul. 1865. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #874792 Jul. 25, 1890, in IN. Died Apr. 20, 1899; buried in Susott Cemetery, Elberfield, Warrick Co., IN."
