Greenville B. Scott was the son of Lucretia Scott and the grandson of Thomas Scott and Sallie Shelor Scott. He died of Typhoid Fever during the Civil War in North Carolina.

His brothers, Asa G. Scott and G. Boston Scott, were also Confederate Soldiers. Boston died of wounds in the POW Hospital in Washington, DC, June 19, 1864. Asa survived the war. Green Scott married May 29 1854 to Lucy S. Robertson in Surry County, NC. They were the parents of four children.
