Mary Ann Tran, daughter of James Tran and Mary Ashton, married William Steeper, son of John Steeper and Mary Burkitt in 1844 in Yorkshire and emigrated to Canada before the birth of their first child John Thomas Steeper in 1845. Two years later they had a daughter, Mary Ann Steeper. Sadly, Mary Ann Tran died Christmas Day 1849 just after the birth of their third child James Steeper, who soon after joined his mother in death.
