Jerry was born on March 11, 1929, in the town of Eaton, son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Hanke) Riesterer. He graduated from Valders High School with the Class of 1947.
On June 30, 1951, he married the former Mary Ann Piek in Washington County. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2007.
Jerry was employed by Miller St. Nazianz for his entire career as a tractor and automotive mechanic and service manager and with customer service in the parts department. He was also a volunteer with the St. Nazianz Fire Department for over 25 years.
Jerry was an active member of his parish and community. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and wood working. He took great pride in his yard and truly enjoyed tending to his trees and garden. Jerry also loved old time polka music. He enjoyed traveling and taking pictures all along the way.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Connie Riesterer, St. Nazianz; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Debbie and Dan Bunker, Ann and Rick Kane, Sandy Riesterer and special friend, Gary Heilmnann, Joy and Jeff Herman, all of Green Bay, one brother, Lester Riesterer and Brynece Riesterer, St. Nazianz; two sisters-in-law, Annie, West Bend; and Tessie, Eau Claire; one brother-in-law, Tony, Menominee Falls. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Jerry was also preceded in death by one infant sister.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at St. Gregory Catholic Church. St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gregory Coulthard. Jerry will be laid to rest at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery, St. Nazianz following cremation. The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
