MUSCATINE, Iowa - Loren James Allison, 71, of Muscatine, died Saturday, February 28, 2004, at his home.
Service will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Dan Schoepf of the Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be Gavin Loren Curtis, Don Allen, Travis Danielson, Charley Meeker, Rob Bixby, Gavin Gunther, Rob Gunther, and Skip Kirk. Honorary bearers will be the Morning Coffee Club at Mary's Downtown Cafe: Paul Terry, Denny Terry, Larry Terry, Larry Terrill, Larry Brossart, Tom Fahy, Bobby Gray, Windy Powell, Brad Perham, and Steve Christianson. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Loren was born on March 25, 1932, in Muscatine, the son of Raymond and Vivian Meeker Allison. He married Paula E. Terry on December 10, 1966, in Aledo, Illinois.
He was a veteran in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was self employed for 30 years as a bridge painter and also worked for Terry and Sons.
Loren was a member of the Moose Lodge #388 and the Iowa Catfish Association. He loved to hunt and fish and especially loved to fish in catfish tournaments with his cousin, Charley Meeker.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Allison of Muscatine; four daughters, Barb Lewis and husband, Dan, of Muscatine, Angela Brown and husband, Billy, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Laurie Freeman and husband, Robert, of Muscatine, and Shelia Neiswonger and husband, Bob, of Letts; 11 grandchildren, Gavin Loren Curtis of Muscatine, Kelsey Curtis Cortez and husband, Jason, of Tucson, AZ, Megan Reeder and Clint Brown of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Jenny Allison, Dusty Allison, Chris Gatton, Ryan Freeman, Tom Wessels, Jason Wessels, and Jeremy Neiswonger, all of Muscatine; nine great grandchildren, two brothers, Raymond 'Gene' Allison and wife, Shirley, of Muscatine, and Gary Allison and wife, Linda, of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, mother-in-law, Etta Terry, two sisters-in-law, Kay Allison and Bonna Morgan, and one son, Greg Allison.
