After an illness of about ten years, death came Friday morning, June 13, at 8:00 o'clock to Mrs. Maggie Pirtle Erwin at her home on East Market Street.
Maggie Pirtle was a native of Honey Grove, being the daughter of the late Isaac Newton and Mary Adaline Pirtle, early pioneers here. Her birthdate was November 1, 1865, being 86 years of age. She was married to W. J. Erwin in 1885. Mr. Erwin died on May 3, 1942. Mrs. Erwin was a member of McKenzie Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, L. E. Erwin, San Angelo; a daughter, Mrs. Helen E. Denison, Honey Grove; a sister, Mrs. Henry Brown, Waco; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Last rites were held Sunday afternoon at the Cooper Funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev. James M. Simpson, Jr., pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment was made at Oakwood Cemetery by Cooper.
Pallbearers were Walter Vaughan, A. W. Morrison, Baxter Moore, Dan Baker, Staley Seale and J. Frank Parrish.
