David Blake, age 42, of Burnet, Texas passed away October 3, 2009. He was born April 9, 1967, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Francis David Blake, Sr. and Sharon (Taylor) Blake. David was a veteran of the U.S. Army and began employment with the Burnet County Sheriff Department as a corrections officer on October 9, 2004. He advanced to the position of Patrol Deputy on January 1, 2009. At the time of his death he was responding to an accident scene west of Burnet.
He loved his wife and children and was very active in all school activities the children were involved in. David was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burnet and along with his family participated in church and youth activities.
David is survived by his wife, Tanya Blake of Burnet and four sons, Keegan and Connor Blake of Burnet and Joshua and Patrick Blake of Saginaw, Texas. He is survived by his grandson, Kameron James Blake of Saginaw, his mother Sharon Levell of Wichita Fall, Texas; two sisters, Elise Blake Rotromel of Georgia and Michelle Blake Francies of Oklahoma; sister-in-law Heather Miller Peacock and husband Robert. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives. David was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ellen Ely officiating. Interment will follow at the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving were Bobby Vaughn, Lance Besancon, Keith Smith, Christopher Biggerstaff, Raymond Killebrew, and Robert Peacock. Honorary David Scholl, Tyler Fath, Dustin Kuehler, Dylan Linderman, Bryan Kibble, Rick Brantley and Justin Besancon.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made at First State Bank of Burnet under the name Officer David Blake.

Burnet deputy dies in morning wreck

A Burnet County sheriff's deputy was killed early this morning when his car veered off the road, possibly because he struck a deer.
At about 1 a.m., Francis David Blake was responding to a major wreck on Park Road 4, about 2 miles south of Highway 29, when he over-corrected and skidded off the road, Department of Public Safety officials said. Blake's vehicle struck a tree, went airborne, then struck another tree, DPS said. Officials are investigating the possibility that he veered off the road because he struck a deer. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Blake, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene. "Sheriff (W.T.) Smith and co-workers … are deeply saddened by the loss of this fine officer," said a statement from the sheriff's office.
Blake had worked at the sheriff's office since October 2004, starting out as a jailer then transferring to patrol work as a field deputy earlier this year. He is survived by his wife and four children.

Blake, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authoritis said he was not wearing a safety belt.
Blake, who has been a patrol officer for less than a year, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Calvin Boyd. The accident is still under investigation by DPS Trooper Frank Randolph.
Blake began his employment with the Burnet County Sheriff's Office on Oct. 9, 2004 as a jailer, according to the Sheriff's Office. He transferred to patrol as field deputy on Jan. 1, 2009.
In addition to his wife, Blake is survived by four children. Services are pending at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
