Alvie F. Jones, 82, died of a cerebral hemorrhage early Friday in his North Jackson home after a year's illness. Born in North Jackson, Dec. 24, 1882, he was a son of Friend and Grace Anderson Jones, and was a life resident of the community. He served for 38 years as North Jackson postmaster and also as a member of the Jackson-Milton school board. He was a partner in Friend Jones & Sons Hardware store for 51 years. The firm is now operated by a son and brother. Mr. Jones was a member of the Federated church and Postal Clerks Association. Survivors include his wife, Jessie Elizabeth Clemmens Jones, whom he married in 1908; three sons, Myron of Gosse Isle, Mich., Dan of Flemingsburg, Ky., Richard of North Jackson; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Kopp of North Jackson; a sister, Miss Essie Jones, and a brother, Curt Jones of North Jackson; six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. James T. Wheeler, were held Sunday afternoon at the Lane Austintown Chapel, and interment made in North Jackson cemetery.
