She retired from office work as a secretary and took care of her husband during his final years.
I met her only once when I was about twenty years old, when they lived in Huntington Park, California. I had to go through the Child Support Divison to find my Dad and I went to see him, I was determned to not leave his door until I saw him. He was quit surprised to see me, then my brother Larry went to see him a few years later.
Eileen seemed like a sweet woman, focusing always on her husband(my dad) and his needs. For at the time I saw him, he was ill, then.
She must of loved him very much, for she forgave him, for his secrets he kept from her for years.
It's strange for when Roy laid in the hospital hours before his death, it was I, that she phoned.
She didn't have the heart to order the doctors to disconnect Roy from life support, so it was me, a daughter he hadn't reached out to that had to give permission for it to happen. And the last words my Dad spoke to his wife were,
"tell Linda Ann I'm sorry". My feelings were numb, my feelings were sorrow, but in God and as a christian I have forgiven my Dad.
Eileen was kind enough to tell me his last words and I shall always remember her kindly for that.
I know without a doubt she loved my Dad unconditionally.
He was a blessed man to have her by his side.
Eileen died eight years after my dad and is laid to rest next to him. She was seventy years old at the time of her death.
May she and Roy rest in peace eternally.
