LIEUTENANT JAMES KIDDER, born at Chelmsford, Mass., 14 or 3 May 1745; died at Alstead, N.H., 10 June 1820. He married at Upton, Worcester Co., Mass., 18 July 1771, DEBORAH WOOD, born at Upton, 31 Mar. 1749; died at Alstead, 30 Dec. 1830 daughter of Capt. Ezra and Anna (Chapin) Wood of Uxbridge, Mass.

James Kidder during the Revolutionary War marching to the Lexington Alarm on 19 April 1775, serving for 10 days, with the rank of Sergeant, in Capt. Andrew Elliot's Co. of Col. Learnard's Regiment. He served in Capt. Bartholomew Woodbury's Co. in the same Regiment and rank, receiving pay for billeting at Sutton, MA, on 9 Dec. 1775. He also served in Capt. Abijah Burbank's Co., of Col. Jonathan Holman's Regiment, for 41 days and 76 miles, marching to Providence, RI on 10 Dec. 1776. James Kidder was commissioned Lt., in Capt. Andrew Elliot's Co. of Col. Jonathan Holman's Regiment, served 30 days which included 290 miles travel to and from Worcester County, MA, to reinforce the Northern Army at the taking of British General Burgoyne. He served in 1776, 1777, and 1778 in the 5th Worcester Company of which he was commissioned.
