CHESTER F. ADAMS

Chester Fillmore Adams, 83, a former resident of Bedford died October 20, 2002, in Peachtree City, Georgia.
Born November 15, 1918, in Lyford, he was the son of the late Riley and Edith Jones Adams. His wife, Letha Humphrey Adams, preceded him in death.
He served in the Pacific during World War II in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1946. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his duties in Iwo Jima. He and his wife managed the Indiana Creek Baptist Camp near Bedford from 1960 to 1973. He was a teacher and principal at Horace Mann Elementary School in Crawfordsville. He was a retired math teacher from Bedford Junior High School in 1981.
He was a deacon and trustee for First Baptist Church in Bedford, where he also taught Sunday School. His memberships included the Masons Jerusalem Lodge No. 99 in Clinton, the American Legion, Indiana Local Retired Teachers Association and Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald G. Adams of Peachtree, Georgia and Kenneth W. Adams of Oviedo, Florida; four grandchildren; two brothers, Morris Adams of Clinton and David Adams of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one infant brother; and one sister.
Services were Saturday at Roselawn Funeral Home. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.
