ERRIS STANDIFORD

Ferris C. STANDIFORD, Fr. Of Bellevue, Washington, passed away at Overlake Hospital Medical Center on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 from lung cancer. He was 80 years of age. Mr. Standiford was born September 17, 1922 in Battle Creek, Michigan; son of Ferris and Ethel Standiford. He grew up in Michigan and graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit in 1940. His college education, interspersed with various rocket programs researches, including the Manhattan Project, culminated with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1947. He and his family moved to Whidbey Island for Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1975 and subsequently to Bellevue in 1989. Mr. Standiford's specializations included conception, design and startup of the first freshwater-from-seawater evaporator plant in the U.S. His work involved troubleshooting, designing and operating of numerous chemical plants both here and abroad, from Brazil to Britain to Bangladesh. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; son Mark or North Bend; Daughter, Julie of Renton; two special grandchildren, Becky and David Standiford of North Bend; and his sister, Jane Gregory of Fairbanks, Alaska. A Memorial Service will be held at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue, WA on June 20, 2003 at 3pm. Remembrances may be made to Westminster Chapel youth camps, the Chapel's foreign missions program, or the Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Flintoft's Funeral Home.
