Nancy Lee (Norman) Castleberry, 87, formerly of Springfield, departed this life on July 22, 2019, in Redlands, CA. Born in Macon, GA, she was the oldest child of Prime Norman Sr. and Inez Baker. The family moved to Springfield in 1940 and she married Farris Castleberry in 1952. Nancy was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and Price Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles. She worked at F.W. Sickels, Northern Educational Services, Tapley School and Dorman School prior to receiving her BA and Masters degrees from UMass. After graduation, she continued as a beloved educator with the Springfield Public Schools, serving for 25 years. Pre-deceased by her parents; her husband; two children, Farris Castleberry Jr. and Gail Castleberry; and a brother, Prime Norman Jr., she is survived by her beloved daughter, Donna Castleberry of Los Angeles; a daughter-in-law, Grace Castleberry of Goodyear, AZ; a brother, Paul Norman (and Mamie) of Bowie, MD; two sisters, Geraldine Anderson of Springfield and Christine Brown of College Park, GA; two granddaughters, Alexis Castleberry and Whitney Castleberry; and two great grandchildren, Jayden Castleberry and Briella Castleberry all of Goodyear, AZ. The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Friday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 17 John Street, followed by funeral services at 11. Harrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
