She was born February 19, 1929, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to the late William and Ida Lee Washington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Francis Washington-Henderson, and Elaine Amanda Washington.
Marion is survived by: her loving husband of 57 years, James McDaniel Jr.; her two daughters, Wilhelmina Jackson, and her husband, Jarrett, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Marilyn Peters and her husband, Wendell, of Bowie, Maryland; one grandson, James Alexander Peters; and numerous other family members and friends.
For many years Marion devoted herself to being a stay at home Mom, caring for and nurturing her family. After her children were grown she entered the world of work, serving as a teacher's assistant at Jackson-Via Elementary School. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and Monticello Chapter 43 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed many craft activities. Marion was a loving and devoted wife, mother and adored grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral service was held, Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at the Mount Zion First African Baptist Church with Dr. Alvin Edwards officiating.
Interment followed at Holly Memorial Gardens.
